Join us in celebrating the start of our dancing on Fridays with AIFD's FREE annual open house at the new time slot of 7:00 to 9:45. This exciting event will be full of fun dance teaching and walkthroughs, so please invite everyone who might be interested to come and discover the joy of folk music and dance! Also, feel free to wear your favorite folk costume or bring something for the snack table! This fun evening will be DJ'd by Sharon Casteel. Sharon will be assisted by David Liang. Check out AIFD's live music compensation policy. Upcoming "other dance" features: Wednesdays: Scandinavian Music Jams and Dance!! The Austin Scandi Folk Music & Dance community holds FREE weekly jam sessions at the back room of the Hancock Rec Center! A themed session runs from 7:30 to about 8:15, followed by a regular jam. Bring your instrument of choice, or come out and dance to the music! Then once a month the Scandi group will devote the entire evening to dancing. All levels welcome! September 30: Monthly Dance!! Come on out and dance to some lovely Scandinavian tunes! There will often be live music, and the electric Misi Tsurikov will be your DJ for the evening.
