Kathleen McDonaghIola Teaching: Join us at 7:30 p.m. for a lively and exciting newcomers' session led by Kathleen McDonagh. Later that evening, Iola Hallock will introduce Dagmat, a dance presented by Sanna Longden at SAFDF 2014.

June 14 - Flags of the World party, with live music by the Homegrown Contra Band.
Home Grown Contra BandEnjoy a fun celebration of flags of the world, including live music by the Homegrown Contra Band . This special evening will cater to both the folk dance and the contra dance communities, as Homegrown will include three contra dances, all called by Marc Airhart, as well as several sets of international folk dance tunes.


AIFD Elections: Congratulations and Thanks!!!
RosieLee SalinasCongratulations to RosieLee Salinas for being elected to the new 2014-2015 AIFD Board of Trustees. RosieLee will replace Dee McCandless as secretary. Dee will remain on the Board as the carry-over member from the preceding Board - a position established in the Bylaws to ensure continuity in the management of AIFD. Mike Revesz, who served in this role last year, will be leaving the Board. The remainder of last year's Board will continue in their current roles on the new Board: Iola Hallock (President), Brenda Benton (Vice President), Franklin Houston (Program Director), Misi Tsurikov (Teaching Director), and Michel Breger (Treasurer). Franklin Houston will also continue as registered agent and Bill Ogilvie will continue as webmaster and newsletter editor. THANKS to the outgoing and incoming Boards.

Friday, May 23rd - Planet Music: Middle Eastern!!!
Head down to the Dougherty Arts Center from 7-9 on Friday, May 23rd, to enjoy some lively Middle Eastern dancing and music at Planet Music's Middle Eastern show. Performing groups will include 1001 Nights Orchestra, Ravaan Persian Dancers, and some familiar faces from the Austin International Folk Dancers. This event is sponsored by the City of Austin Department of Recreation and coordinated by our own Genevieve Kent.

Friday. May 30th - Korobushka and Kolorash!!
An evening of dancing and music not to be missed. Enjoy Korobushka and Kolorash back to back on Friday, May 30th,Kolorash starting at 8pm at the fabulousKorobushka Monkey Nest, 5353 Burnet Rd. Korobushka, with lead singer Genevieve Kent, will kick off the evening. Genevieve will then join Lisa Schneider and Kolorash, along with Yosuke Kimura on Kontra, Don Weeda on accordion, and Eric Vormelker on Bass.
