OOPS, WE FORGOT! At the 55th anniversary party, we forgot to take a group photo. Let's take one right after elections this week (May 12th) and let's all wear our 55th anniversary tee shirts for the picture. Please come ready to memorialize this great event.

New sign-in process at HRC - A note from Madeline.
Madeline BrockThanks to everyone who has already received and is using your new ID at Hancock. This is the new policy of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. If you haven't already done so, let me encourage you to:
  • Get your PARD IDs made (free, and easily done at the desk at Hancock)
  • Remember to swipe your card when you arrive.
By doing this, we validate our worth as a group to Hancock (and to the City of Austin), and it also helps Hancock get the funding it needs to operate. Thanks! You can find details about the new process here. - Madeline Brock.

SPECIAL NOTE FROM DENA AND FRANKLIN HOUSTON
Dena and Franklin HoustonThis week will be the final week of our year as AIFD Teaching Directors. We have had a great time reintroducing the AIFD "oldies but goodies" into our folk dance village. We wanted our newer dancers to feel the rich tradition of our folk dance culture by joining us in doing these beloved dances from our folk dance past. We also wanted our veteran dancers to experience once again those wonderful dances and thereby encourage them to continue or increase their participation at AIFD.

We could not have done this without the talented and enthusiastic teachers who made this happen. A huge THANK YOU to the following for your time, efforts, and talents to teach us this year: Stephanie Anderson, Michel Breger, Madeline Brock, Lisa Horn Dielman, Norris Foster Harrell, Lane Foster Harrell, Franklin Houston, Bob Liebman, Kathleen McDonagh, Rikki Nicolae, Holly Plotner, Sandy Rouch, and Robert Sampson.

Trudy Madrulli
Trudy Madrulli It is with sadness to report that Trudy Madrulli passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Crying daisy She was a long time folk dancer. She (and her late husband, Bob) were active members of the Beaumont IFD for about 20 years, before they moved to Austin. She had to give up dancing about 5 years ago, when she became blind. Then, about one year ago, she relocated to Florida. Many folk dancers will remember Trudy and Bob with much fondness.
