This week at dancing

We hope you enjoyed last week's hiatus from HRC and that you made it down to San Antonio for SAFDF. Now that we are back, join AIFD this week for a fun evening of dancing DJd by John Scales. John will be assisted by Kristina Kinsel and John Ramage.

MisiTeaching: SAFDF 2014 featured a lot of fun dances, and we begin introducing them this week. Misi Tsurikov will lead a newcomers' session that will include a couple of the easier dances. Later, Misi will teach Pre Picior, a lively and satisfying Serbian dance presented at SAFDF 2014 by Miroslav Marcetic.

$5 at the door 17 & older. 16 & under free.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

March 29th: Mad Hatter's Ball!
Mad HatterCelebrate April Fool’s Day just a tad early. Channel the energy of madness and whimsy by wearing a striking hat of your choice. Decorate a top hat or bonnet. Wear character hats. Any hat will do as long as it is danceable. Madeline will DJ this evening of topsy-turvy frivolity.

March 22: 7th Annual Nowruz Festival!!
Celebrate the Persian New Year, Vernal Equinox, and start of Spring at the Nowruz Festival, at Central Market North (41st St and Lamar). This lively event will kick off at 5 and include several music and dance performances.

March 28-30: 2nd Annual Austin Waltz Weekend!!
Austin Social Dance presents a weekend of walz dancing and workshops, Where is Waltzofeaturing the instructors Nick Enge and Melissa Carvell from Stanford University. Venue: Anna Hiss Gym on UT Campus. As an added treat, the weekend will include a Where's Waltzo dance at the Capitol! Pricing: Pay what you can afford - suggested donation: $5-15/workshop. MisiBrenda BentonCongratulations to Misi Tsurikov, Brenda Benton, and everyone else involved in organizing last week's successful San Antonio Folk Dance Festival.

GenevieveAlso, congratulations to Genevieve Kent, receipient of the 2014 Texas Camp Award. Genevieve received the award during the intermission of Saturday's World Dance Showcase, part of the SAFDF. The award recognized the many contributions that Genevieve has made to folk dancing since she started dancing in 2000.
