We will dance at Hancock Recreation Center on March 11th and on March 18th, both nights beginning at special time 7:30 pm. $5 at the door. The San Antonio Folk Dance Festival is March 25-27, so no dancing at Hancock on March 25th. April 1, 2022 we will go back to our regular schedule Friday dancing with teaching 7 pm to 8 pm, with request dancing following until 9:45 pm. March 11 and 18, we will have teaching mixed with dance requests. Bring a list of dances you want to dance. All dances will be led, with maybe some informal unrehearsed “walk throughs.” We’ve survived a pandemic, we can laugh and dance. We want to welcome everybody; we may have some first timers! As you plan your evening, please note that this Friday, the Hancock parking lot could be busy. At 7 pm, Hancock Recreation Center is offering a Movie Night on Hancock's Golf Course, on the #1 Fairway. The flyer for the movie is at Movie Night flyer. Friday forecast is for high of 47 F with some rain, going down to 28 F, so there may not be many moviegoers. Please note that as of the final edit of this newsletter, Hancock Rec Center and Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) will have at the door a short COVID questionnaire and temperature check. They also require masks to be worn at all times in the building. Please check current PARD restrictions at HRC for the latest on what to expect when you arrive at HRC. If Hancock removes the mask requirement, AIFD would not be able to impose its own mask requirement, since Hancock and AIFD's dances are open to the public. If you have concerns about others not wearing masks, please include that in your decision making. The AIFD Board wants to draw people back to AIFD and keep them dancing with us. Many people will have not danced in two years and will face challenges in reacquainting themselves with the AIFD repertoire and learning new dances that are introduced. And we hope to invite new dancers to join us. |
