Farewell to the Alexanders
We bid a fond farewell to Anne and John Alexander, who are moving to the Pacific Northwest. Their involvement in our dance and music community has supported our group and have been instrumental in the success we enjoy today.

Anne AlexanderAnne’s talents in the many bands she plays in, and her teaching skills, have broadened our experiences of dancing in so many ways. Is there any instrument she can’t play? I don’t think so!

John AlexanderJohn, who has been dancing and teaching for decades, is also the original inspiration for the wooden floor for Texas Camp. He designed, built, and maintained the floor for decades, and has served as Floor Czar ever since.

We will miss them both, wish them the best in their new home, and hope they will visit us whenever they are in Austin.

Flag and fireworks Hancock will be closed next Friday, July 4, for Independence Day.

Link of the Week
This week we are featuring the extensive video library of Bob Leibman .

Bob LeibmanBob spent much of his early folklorist career in the 1960s through the early 70s enjoying and documenting Balkan wedding ceremonies in the now former Yugoslavia (Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia). His efforts introduced many dances, dance styles, and music that continue to make folk dancing such a blast.

Bob lives in Austin and still occasionally participates in AIFD's Friday Night folk dance events.
