This Friday at dancing:
Red, White, and Blue Party with Live Music!!!

Come and join us for a Red, White, and Blue party, including live music by Anne Alexander and Don Weeda!!! Bringing red, white and blue snacks as well as dressing in red, white and blue is, of course, optional, but fun!! Madeline Brock will DJ this fun event. She will be assisted by Janie Hopkins. |
Teaching: Bob Leibman will kick off the evening with some great teaching: Čačak (basic village style from SE Serbia), Stara Vlaina (basic village style NE Serbia), Nevestinsko oro - Bride's dance - women's dance from Mijak villages in Western Macedonia. |
Friday, July 6, 7-9:45 pm. Admission fee is $5 for those 18 and older. There is no fee for those under 18,
but they must be supervised by a designated person 18 or older.
Hancock Rec Center (HRC)
AIFD is organized exclusively for educational purposes, including the promotion and teaching of traditional folk dance, music and crafts native to a variety of countries.

Do you have a birthday or anniversary in July, or know a fellow folk dancer who does? Come to folk dancing to celebrate with song, dance, and cake!

David Houston memories: 1963
While preparing for last week's memorial for David Houston, Dena and Franklin were looking through old papers and came across this article.
David was president in 1963 (when this article was published). He was president again in 1968 - with Dena as vice-president.
David also signed the only AIFD constitution on February 9th, 1962.

Folk Club Dancers Installing Houston.
Daivd Houston, Austin city planner, will be installed as president of Austin International Folk Dancers at a banquet and dance beginning at 8p.m. Friday,
Site will be the Unitarian Church of Austin, 4700 Grover Street.
Service with him will be Gene White, vice president, James Herberger, program director, Lurann Darden, secretary, and Alan Barnes, treasurer.
The Folk Dancers group is co-sponsored by the University International Club and the Austin Recreation Department. Its purpose is to bring music and culture of all nations here as a recreation form.
International dances will be held at 8 p.m. each Saturday at Hancock Recreation Center beginning June 8. The public is invited to participate and there is no charge.
