AIFD Music Library
WinampAIFD's music library contains over 1500 recordings. 1500 tunes can make the task of programming daunting. So, in 2011, two changes were made to the library to help new programmers search for music:
core2011: A list of 116 tunes was identified that would always get people up and dancing. These were tagged with "core2011" in the Composer field. All a programmer needs to do is enter "core2011" in the search field of the media library to pull up this list.
preferred: In cases of multiple tunes for the same dance, "preferred" was added to the title of one or more of the tunes that were more easily recognized and danced to by the group. A programmer not familiar with the various tunes only needs to select a "preferred" recording rather than worry about which tune to pick.

This week's "other dance" feature:

Fiddlisa
Lisa Schneider
Our own incredibly talented Lisa Schneider (in blue) has assembled a group of musicians to play waltz music this coming Friday, July 27th, at Monkey Nest Coffee (5353 Burnet Rd, Austin) from 9-10:30pm. Lisa is calling the event "Waltz till you drop" and plans to play waltzes from as many countries/genres as they can manage. This is guaranteed to be fun event for both dancing and listening.

Do you play folk dance music and are not on our list of Musicians/Musical groups, please send your information to newsletter_editor@aifd.cc

The joy within our hearts is dancing
and our feet are keeping time,
thus in Eretz we'll be stepping/dancing -
oh, 'tis good to be alive!

Our sing is ringing round the world,
over hills and over laveys,
the echo of our song is hurled
Eretz Israel it hails!

The joy within our hearts
the joy is dancing
and our feet are keeping time,
oh, 'tis good to be alive!

We shall not cease, for still
our strength is rising higher,
for dauntless is our will,
and our heart's on fire!

Away with grief and pain,
for hope does sorrow mend -
around and round again,
for hora has no end!

The joy...
