Would you like to be Zoom Monitor for AIFD?
A message from Scott Margo, Program Director:

Scott Margo Hello, I am serving as the new programming director for AIFD. As you are probably aware, AIFD is hosting Friday night dance meetings over Zoom every other Friday. The Houston group is hosting the other Friday nights.

To make the meetings go a little smoother, in Austin we have started to use a 'monitor' to help take the load off of the host and the dance teachers. I served as the monitor this past Friday, and it was a pretty simple job. That said, it would be great if anybody else would be interested in volunteering for a night to serve as the monitor. For this initial search I'm only looking for someone from now until the end of October 2020.

This means I'm looking for volunteers to be the monitor on 7/24, 8/7, 8/21, 9/4, 9/18, 10/2, 10/16, and 10/30. The total time commitment is just over two hours, and I'll summarize the duties below. The dance monitor should be someone who is not teaching a dance that same night. Experience using Zoom is a definite advantage, too. The host will make the monitor a co-host so that the monitor can perform the needed duties.

Zoom monitorFor a complete list of duties, sign up instructions, contact information for questions, and loads of other good stuff, check out the Google doc that Scott has prepared.

Austin Balkan Singers in quarantine continues to meet on Zoom, every Wednesday night at 7 PM for an hour or so. If you are missing your 5/8, 7/8, 9/8, or even 11/8 dose you are welcome to join us – zoom singing has the advantage that you can "sing along" while muted if you want to learn in private. Also we are being joined by folks from far away who we have missed. Send e-mail to susan.hovorka@gmail.com if you want to zoom-sing along with us.

If you have any suggestions or comments about upcoming online events, please email contact@aifd.cc.
