Sat/Sun, July 30th-31st: Balkan Folks 2016!!
"BalFolk" is a participatory music & dance idiom which is on a kind of rising tide of revival and young energy in Europe, especially in France, Germany, The Low Countries, England, Italy, and Spain. There is some visibility for this music & dance in the USA but not much. The Vernacular Music Center at Texas Tech University and the Roots Music Institute are bringing instrumental music instructors (from California) and dance teachers (from France) for classes, workshops on Saturday and Sunday July 30th/31st, and a public dance on Saturday, July 30th. Full details. Registration. (Thanks to Yoshimi Masou for forwarding the info.)
