This week at dancing
Franklin Houston DJs, assisted by Sarah Martinez and Iola Hallock.
Join us for a fun evening of dancing DJ'd by Franklin Houston and his assistants Sarah Martinez and Iola Hallock. Teaching: In addition DJ-ing, Franklin will also conduct the newcomers' class where he will review dances taught by Steve Kotansky at last year's Texas camp as well as in Austin in 2002. So if you want to learn or review some great Albanian, Macedonian, Serbian and Greek dances, be sure to show up at 7:30.
Later in the evening Robert Sampson and Wendy Erickson will finish their teaching of Mezõségi** as it was taught at Camp. **Mezõségi is a couples dance from Hungary. You do not need to bring a partner for this teaching.

Old World Winterland Ball Thanks for a terrific event!! by Misi Tsurikov
|
Old World Winter Wonderland Ball... what a beautiful, fun, happy, magical night! Congratulations to all of us for yet another AIFD event "for the ages". It looks like all the planning and preparation paid off! If I believe my eyes and the sign-in book, we had a perfect turnout -- enough people for high energy and good dancing, but not so much that we crowded the band or stumbled over each other. And oh, the magic of dancing to great live music, with lights reflecting in the floor as if it were an ice rink. I was impressed by the entire evening, but a few moments stand out especially... the magnificent music by Homegrown Contra Band, Iola's jaw-dropping selection of winter-wonderland photos (which kept distracting me -- "ooh, which one will come next?") and bell videos, and the costumes on so many of our friends (including us)..... (see more).
Party pictures: Michel Breger is collecting pictures taken at the party. If you have any you would like to share, please forward them to Michel at treasurer@aifd.cc. So far both Michel and Misi Tsurikov have provided great snapshots. You can access the album here.
