 Teaching: In this first week of our 6-week Couples Dance 101 Series, Michel Breger and Stephanie Anderson will teach One-Step and Waltz, focusing on partnering skills to make the dances smooth and the turning enjoyable.

Friday, January 19, 7-9:45 pm. The admission fee is $5 for those 18 and older. There is no fee for those under 18,
but they must be supervised by a designated person 18 or older.

AIFD is organized exclusively for educational purposes, including the promotion and teaching of traditional folk dance, music and crafts native to a variety of countries.

Couples Dance 101 Series
Feel comfortable and enjoy dancing with a partner!
Starting THIS WEEK - Friday, January 19, 2018, 7-8pm, our regular teaching will include a 6-week series on dances for couples. Starting with couple-dance basics and continuing with dances such as the Waltz, Polka and Two-Steps. Special dance tips will be included to help you dance with confidence. Lessons are free. Tuesday, February 6, 6:45-7:45 FREE Beginner Folk Dance Class!!
Join our teaching director, Sharon Casteel, as she kicks off a 6 week Beginner Folk Dance class at the Dottie Jordan Recreation Center, 2803 Loyala Lane in Austin (map). This free class is the result of Dottie Jordan and other Austin Rec Centers showing an interest in AIFD activities at Hancock Rec Center. Flier. |
March 9-14: Pre SAFDF events!!
The week prior to the San Antonio Folk Dance Festival will be filled with a variety of fun and interesting workshops and events. These include a Set For Spring English Country Dance workshop, a Canary Island Dance Workshop - Celebrating the 300th anniversary of the arrival of Canary Islanders to San Antonio; a Fun Arts Day; and a Hawaiian luau. March 15-18: 60th Annual San Antonio Folk Dance Festival (SAFDF)!!!
Mark your calendar for 60th annual San Antonio Folk Dance Festival! Featured teachers: Jaap Leegwater (Bulgarian), Sonia Dion and Cristian Florescu (Romanian), and Campbell Miller (Social and American Vintage). Registration details and workshop prices are still in the works. The newsletter and other sources will be updated when details and prices are set.
