New Years Eve hat Let's ring in the new year with our American International Heritage Ball. We will celebrate America with the music and dance of its many cultures. We'll kick things off with a Grand March!!! Music will be provided by both La Strada and the Texas Camp Band!!! Your best cultural or formal wear is encouraged, but, of course, not required. The party will go until 11!!!

Kate Tanguis
Kate TanguisWith great sadness we bid farewell to Kate Tanguis. Kate passed away on December 5th at the age of 50 after a long battle with colon cancer. Those of us who danced during the 90's and early 2000s, and especially former AIFD board members who had frequent interactions with the Hancock Rec staff, remember Kate fondly in her role as the HRC director for many years. Her career with Austin Parks and Recreation spanned 25 years, with an extraordinary attention to special needs children. Here is the tribute to Kate.
