This week at dancing
Enjoy a fun evening of dancing this week as Mike Revesz DJs, assisted by AIFD's president, Iola Hallock.

Teaching: Franklin Houston will teach a special newcomer's session of old-time kolos, those line and circle dances originating in the former Yugoslavia and done in Serbian and Croatian communities of the United States from the end of the 19th Century through most of the 20th Century. These dances formed the foundation of many recreational folk dance groups and were popularized by folk dance pioneers such as Dick Crum and Dennis Boxell.

August 31: While the cats are away ...
Bring your wish list of dances you've wanted to learn and practice to folk dancing on 8/31 (Labor Day Weekend Saturday). Austin’s Hungarian dance group, Csardas, will be performing at Westfest in West, TX. Since Csardas includes several AIFD "regulars", this will be a great evening to focus on dances and dance styles that may not get enough attention on other evenings. Bill Ogilvie will both DJ and teach. If we get a nice balance of leads and follows, we’ll even work on swing dance basics.

September 14: Back to School Open House. It is never to early to start talking up our September Open House. Madeline Brock will DJ this very special event. We're going to make a special effort to get a lot of new folks in the door, and give them an experience that will make them want to come back.
