On Friday, March 31, 2017, a special meeting was held to consider proposed amendments to AIFD's Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. I am pleased to report that the amendments were overwhelmingly approved by our membership. As a result, our operations and structure will better align with our current practices and also with state and federal requirements that govern our activities. Thanks to all who helped make this happen!

In honor of Austin International Folk Dancers’ fifty-fifth year, this week we’re throwing a grand party and everyone’s invited—old and new dancers alike! This celebration will be FREE, and we'll dance for an additional hour, until 10:45pm!!! Our DJ for this fun event will be Franklin Houston. Franklin will be assisted by Dee McCandless.

A Blast From Someone Else's Past. |

A close friend back east sent me folk dance teaching notes from around 1960. It gives a nice sense of the efforts to introduce folk dancing to a wider audience. Click here or on the picture to see the full document. - Bill Ogilvie (editor).
