VaNa MaZi From Genevieve Kent: VaNa MaZi will be playing at the Russian House this Thursday (4/18) at 9pm. In case you missed the extremely fun event there last month, the Russian House is an amazing venue, and Vana Mazi has an incredible repertoire of folk dances. They will be going on a 3 month long tour soon, so come dance to them while they're still around!
La Strada - this Saturday from 10-11:30 am at the farmer's market in downtown Austin (Republic Square). The band includes AIFD's own Dee McCandless on accordion. Dee reports that their repertoire will include plenty of danceable music.

Get ready for
Golden Oldies Night!!
Saturday, April 27th

Golden OldiesA very special evening of dancing is planned for this coming April 27th. Franklin Houston will Franklin present a program of “Golden Oldies” (dances introduced to AIFD before 1980, dances taught by Bobbi Gillotti and dances taught by Dick Crum). The program will have something for everyone. Many of the dances will be easy enough for the newer dancer, while a number of them will be challenging enough for the most experienced dancer.

Golden Oldies Check out the webpage for this event for biographies of Bobbie Gilloti and Dick Crum, as well as a list of dances that Franklin will choose his program from.

Make sure to attend the newcomers class this week when Kathleen McDonagh walks through some of these classic dances.
